Basketball Recap: Rancho Verde Comes Up Short

Rancho Verde's tournament run continued when they took on San Diego on Saturday. The Rancho Verde Mustangs were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the San Diego Cavers.

Isaiah Marte continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for San Diego, going 9 for 17 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. Marte has been hot for a while, having posted 18 or more points the last 13 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lamar Smith, who posted ten points and six boards.

Rancho Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for San Diego, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Rancho Verde has already played their next match, a 62-35 win against Hillcrest on the 28th. As for San Diego, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-55 victory against Eastlake on the 28th.
