Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Wolves vs. Ankeny Hawks

Northwest has won 11 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Ankeny has won 11 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Wolves will host the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Northwest's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Ankeny's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Northwest got the win against Urbandale by a conclusive 10-4. Considering the Wolves have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Ankeny won against Dowling Catholic on Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Hawks beat Southeast Polk by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-3.

Northwest is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Ankeny, their victory bumped their record up to 12-19.

Northwest took their win against Ankeny in their previous meeting back in June by a conclusive 12-4 score. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
