Softball Game Preview: Mount Si Wildcats vs. Sammamish RedHawks

The Mount Si Wildcats will challenge the Sammamish RedHawks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Sammamish will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Mount Si extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Wildcats never let Moses Lake get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Wildcats have won nine matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mount Si got a great performance from Mary Salmon as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Ally Hetzel was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Anna Braukus was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Mount Si always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moses Lake only posted an OBP of .250.

Meanwhile, Sammamish came into Monday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Bellevue on Monday as they made off with a 15-3 victory. Considering the RedHawks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Mount Si's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sammamish, their win bumped their record up to 5-14.

Mount Si took their victory against Sammamish when the teams last played on April 2nd by a conclusive 18-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the RedHawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
