Basketball Recap: Princeton Takes a Loss

Princeton came up into this matchup off a tough 38-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Beddingfield Bruins by a score of 54-52 on Monday. The Bulldogs' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Despite the loss, Princeton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Teo McPhatter went 9 for 15 en route to 23 points along with eight boards and four steals. With that strong performance, McPhatter is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Lane, who posted 14 points.

Even though they lost, Princeton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Princeton's record now sits at 6-14. As for Beddingfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Princeton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Goldsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Princeton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. As for Beddingfield, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge North Johnston at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
