Basketball Recap: Ryan Avary's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rogers over Auburn

Rogers's game on Friday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Auburn Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Trojans are ranked tenth).

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Avary, who went 8-for-9 to rack up 18 points and five boards. What's more, Avary also posted a 89% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Treyshawn Weatherspoon, who posted 15 points and five steals.

Rogers' loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Auburn, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Coming up, Rogers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Rogers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68 points per game this season. Auburn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
