The Farmington Phoenix are taking a road trip to challenge the Davis Darts at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Farmington and Layton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Phoenix put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 13-3 win on Friday. The game was the first time the Phoenix have beaten the Lancers on their field since March 22, 2022.
Brooklyn Wright was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Kiley Gazafy was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Farmington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Davis had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Grizzlies as they made off with a 10-4 victory.
Riley Jaques was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jewel Korth, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Farmington's record is now 9-5. As for Davis, their record now sits at 13-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Farmington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .404. However, it's not like Davis struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Farmington suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Davis when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
