Softball Recap: Richland's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

Richland dropped their record down to 23-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Lake Stevens Vikings by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bombers of the 6-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2019.

Richland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Sams, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Allison Langdon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Lake Stevens, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Lake Stevens' side, Charli Pugmire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, McKenna Richer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Reese Breckenridge, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Richland will face off against Hanford at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bombers 2, the Falcons 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
