Softball Recap: Colton's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Colton entered their tilt with Dayton on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 16-11. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 21-11 win on Tuesday.

Colton let Kiya Soza and Holly Heitstuman run wild. Soza fired off two home runs and eight RBI while going 3-for-5, while Heitstuman got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Heitstuman continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Mere Bell was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Colton lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Colton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Dayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colton will venture away from home to face off against Genesee at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 15.7 runs per game this season. As for Dayton, they will take on McLoughlin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
