Football Game Preview: Athens Wildcats vs. Jersey Shore Bulldogs

The Athens Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Jersey Shore Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Athens' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Athens is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Sayre 57-0 on Friday. The Wildcats have beaten the Redskins the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Redskins has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jersey Shore, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 63-26 win over Central Mountain. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 63-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Athens better keep an eye on Bo Sechrist. He was instrumental in Jersey Shore's win, rushing for 150 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Sechrist a new career-high. Kash Herritt was in the mix too, providing Jersey Shore with two TDs.

Jersey Shore was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 268 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Jersey Shore didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Carter Rhinehart and Luke Thompson. Thompson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Athens' record is now 9-1. As for Jersey Shore, their record now sits at 7-3.

Athens suffered a grim 31-7 defeat to Jersey Shore when the teams last played back in November of 2016. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
