Baseball Recap: Stratford Beats Nekoosa for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Stratford had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Nekoosa Papermakers as they made off with a 13-1 win. Considering the Tigers have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Berg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with five RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, Kolton Haupt looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Riley Spindler, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Matt Schoenfuss, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Stratford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Stratford's record now sits at 13-6. As for Nekoosa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
