Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Mcmichael's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

With a playoff win on the line, McMichael rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the West Stanly Colts. This was payback for the Phoenix, who suffered a 4-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lindsay Redmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Samantha Hopson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Kora Ingle was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: McMichael kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

McMichael is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for West Stanly, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-5.

As of now, neither McMichael nor the Colts have any future games scheduled.
