Softball Recap: Wicksburg Picks Up 14th Consecutive Win

Wicksburg entered their tilt with Straughn on Friday with 13 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 14. They blew past the Tigers 9-0. Considering the Panthers have won eight games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Wicksburg got a massive performance out of Tylaya Lingo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Lingo has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Turvin, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Wicksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Wicksburg's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Straughn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Wicksburg and Straughn will both be playing Kinston the next time they take the field. Wicksburg will head out to face Kinston at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Straughn will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
