Basketball Recap: Gardena Triumphs

There's no place like home for Gardena, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over the San Pedro Pirates on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 615th, while the Pirates are ranked 304th).

Gardena's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for San Pedro, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.
