Poly is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Taft a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Poly Parrots will host the Taft Toreadors at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Poly is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past South Gate 9-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Parrots as it put an end to their 13-game losing streak.
ISABELLA NAVARRO made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. NAVARRO was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, ANGELINA FREDRICK was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. BRENDA ORTIZ was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Poly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .528. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Taft beat Wilson 10-7 on Wednesday.
Like Poly, Taft also got a great game from a two-way player: Chiara Cioffi. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Cioffi has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Wagner, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ariyah Williams, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Poly's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Taft's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Poly has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Taft, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Poly's sizable advantage in that area, the Toreadors will need to find a way to close that gap.
Poly got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Taft by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Parrots repeat their success, or do the Toreadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
