Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Hoover came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against Roosevelt, but Cobi Posas wouldn't allow it. The Roosevelt Rough Riders managed a 71-67 victory over the Hoover Patriots on Wednesday thanks in part to Posas, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. He also posted five blocks, which is notable because Roosevelt is 11-4 when he posts at least three blocks, but 3-4 otherwise.

James Miller was another key player, putting up 18 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. His evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Hoover's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pamir Olivier, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Keon Hill, who earned 17 points.

Roosevelt's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34% in those games and 30.1% outside of them. As for Hoover, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Roosevelt wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 73-67 victory against Sanger on the 24th. As for Hoover, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-33 loss against San Joaquin Memorial on the 24th.
