Baseball Recap: Spring Creek Wins High-Profile Match Against Dayton

Spring Creek faced Dayton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Spring Creek was the clear victor by a 14-5 margin over Dayton. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Spring Creek got a massive performance out of Gabriel Zubiria, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan DeFevre, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Spring Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

Spring Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Dayton and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Creek will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Elko at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dayton, they will square off against North Valleys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dayton's pitchers better be ready for this one: North Valleys has averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
