Preview: Stanton Buffaloes vs. Alpine Bucks

The Stanton Buffaloes will be playing at home against the Alpine Bucks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Alpine took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Stanton, who comes in off a win.

Stanton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tornillo 63-21 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Stanton has managed all season.

Meanwhile, Alpine unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Crane, falling 81-53. Alpine has struggled against Crane recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Alpine got a solid performance out of Novah Carrasco, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That was a full 39.6% of Alpine's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Collete Fowlkes, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.

Stanton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for Alpine, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-15.

Stanton came up short against Alpine when the teams last played on January 2nd, falling 43-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Carrasco, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Now that Stanton knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
