Ankeny and Dowling Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2020, but not for long. The Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Maroons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dowling Catholic took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Ankeny, who comes in off a win.

Ankeny is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Ankeny Centennial, who was ranked third at the time (Ankeny was ranked seventh). The Hawks walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Jaguars on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Ankeny had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-23, 28-26, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Dowling Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to Elkhorn North.

Dowling Catholic was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-22.

Dowling Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Ankeny, their win bumped their record up to 20-6.

Ankeny was able to grind out a solid victory over Dowling Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
