Basketball Recap: Owen Howard Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Immaculate Conception Academy

Clark Fork won the last time they faced Immaculate Conception Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Clark Fork Wampus Cats took down the Immaculate Conception Academy Cristeros 53-36. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wampus Cats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Clark Fork's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Howard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 22 boards. With that strong performance, Howard is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Westin Caven, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Clark Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Michael Wilhelm and Dominic Wilhelm certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Michael posted 13 points and six boards, while Dominic had 14 points and three steals. Dominic is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Philip Schmitt also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Clark Fork's record now sits at 2-9. As for Immaculate Conception Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.

Clark Fork will head out to square off against Kootenai at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Immaculate Conception Academy, they will be playing at home against Varsity Opponent at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
