Preview: Taft Greyhounds vs. Nordheim Pirates
After two games on the road, Taft is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Nordheim Pirates at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Taft has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 241 points over their last three contests.
Even though Karnes City scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, Taft still came out on top. Taft wrapped up 2023 with a 75-57 win over Karnes City.
It was another big night for Jordan Villalobos, who dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. The match was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Davis, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Nordheim's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Three Rivers on the road and fell 71-44.
Taft pushed their record up to 14-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Nordheim, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
