Baseball Game Preview: Hughes Springs Mustangs vs. Malakoff Tigers

For the second straight game, Hughes Springs will face off against Malakoff. The Mustangs will square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hughes Springs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Malakoff's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hughes Springs is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Malakoff 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Malakoff's part, Zain Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. The Tigers are 7-1 when Jones posts two or more runs, but 9-11 otherwise. Jack Hustead was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

The victory (which was Hughes Springs' third in a row) raised their record to 23-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Malakoff, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.
