Football Recap: Luis Anaya Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Roosevelt

Stanton took a 22-point defeat the last time they faced off against Roosevelt, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Buffaloes skirted past the Eagles 17-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buffaloes have posted since September 13, 2024.

Stanton's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luis Anaya, who rushed for 135 yards and one TD. Anaya is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Stanton also got help from Vayden Pastrana, who showed off his sure hands for 100 receiving yards.

Joseph Kemp and Ricardo Perez certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Kemp gained 139 total yards and a touchdown, while Perez rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown. Perez was even better on defense, forcing one fumble, making seven total tackles, and defending one pass.

Stanton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.

The Eagles will be up against the Roughnecks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
