It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Abernathy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Sanford-Fritch Eagles by a score of 13-12 on Thursday. The Antelopes' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Za'Kayla Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryer Cook, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Abernathy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Sanford-Fritch, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8-1 record this season.

While Abernathy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
