Recap: Juniata Valley Hornets vs. Huntingdon Bearcats
Even though the Juniata Valley Hornets have not done well against the Huntingdon Bearcats recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Juniata Valley enjoyed a cozy 73-54 victory over Huntingdon. Given Juniata Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while Huntingdon is ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Connor Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. The match was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Charlie Mattas was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
The victory (which was Juniata Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.67 points. As for Huntingdon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Juniata Valley will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Moshannon Valley at 7:15 p.m. on January 8, 2024. As for Huntingdon, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Clearfield at 7:15 p.m.
