Volleyball Recap: Northfield Starts Season with Win at Home

Northfield gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Poudre Impalas 3-0. The Nighthawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Impalas, too.

Northfield never let Poudre on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-23, 25-13.

Jillian Fox paced Northfield's offense, picking up eight kills. Fox got some help from Kandice Kountz and her 14 assists. Kountz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Northfield will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Rangeview at 6:30 p.m. As for Poudre, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Boulder at 6:30 p.m. on September 2.
