Basketball Recap: Moniteau Comes Up Short

Moniteau has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Port Allegany Gators on Friday.

Port Allegany's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isac Amell, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Amell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jarrod Funk, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points and seven boards.

Moniteau's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Port Allegany, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Moniteau does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Allegany, they will face off against Bishop McCort at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Gators will be up against the Crushers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.84 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
