Baseball Recap: Lovington Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lovington dropped their record down to 10-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They lost 19-2 to the Goddard Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 back in March.

Lovington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jude Madrid, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Goddard, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

On Goddard's side, Cameron Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Brown has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brady Duer was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jaden Fuentes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

While Lovington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
