Softball Recap: Yuba City Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Yuba City can now relate to. They fell just short of the East Union Lancers by a score of 9-8 on Friday. The Honkers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Chloe Gonzales made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Naiema Cawthon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Yuba City's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9-1. As for East Union, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-13.

Yuba City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Union, they will challenge Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight.
