Volleyball Recap: Temecula Valley Golden Bears vs. Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Temecula Valley had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots by a score of 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Golden Bears as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Temecula Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-14.
Leading Temecula Valley to victory were Brooklyn Pierce and Stephanie Gonzalez. Pierce had five aces and 23 assists, while Gonzalez had two aces and 32 assists. Those five aces gave Pierce a new career-high.
Temecula Valley pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, their loss dropped their record down to 23-7.
Temecula Valley will face off against Santa Margarita at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Academy of Our Lady of Peace does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
