Baseball Recap: Ashdown's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Ashdown won the last time they faced Smackover and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers walked away with a 7-3 win over the Buckaroos. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Kyler Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Walt Jones was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Wood Walton was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Ashdown's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Smackover, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

Coming up, Ashdown will venture away from home to face off against Atlanta at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 2.9, the Rabbits 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Smackover, they will be playing at home against Woodlawn at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
