Chipley triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Marlee Sullivan

Recap: Chipley Tigers vs. Bay Tornadoes

The Chipley Tigers waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 52-40 win over Bay. Given Chipley's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Bay is ranked 458th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marlee Sullivan was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Neveah Bellamy was another key contributor, scoring four points.

Chipley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Bay, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Chipley will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Poplar Springs at 4:00 p.m. on January 29th. Poplar Springs has now lost 17 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 20. As for Bay, they will be playing at home against Port St. Joe at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Port St. Joe and Bay are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
