Basketball Game Preview: Westview Wildcats vs. Mountainside Mavericks

The Westview Wildcats will square off against the Mountainside Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westview will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Friday, Westview didn't have too much trouble with Lakeridge as they won 69-51. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Pacers are ranked 54th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mountainside posted their closest win since December 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Lakeridge out 45-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.

Westview pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Mountainside, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Westview barely slipped by Mountainside in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 60-59. Will Westview repeat their success, or does Mountainside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
