Soccer Game Preview: Fort Bend Willowridge vs. Needville

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Fort Bend Willowridge duke it out with Needville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fort Bend Willowridge will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Saturday, then bounced right back against La Marque on Thursday. Fort Bend Willowridge blew past La Marque 4-1. Considering the Eagles have won seven matches by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Needville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Exporters. Given the Bluejays' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Exporters are ranked 577th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Needville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four contests. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
