Basketball Recap: Sturgis Brown Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sturgis Brown waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 63-46 victory over the Mahpiya Luta Crusaders. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Scoopers also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Mahpiya Luta lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Memphis Brewer, who posted 11 points. Caden Pourier was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Sturgis Brown's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Mahpiya Luta, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Sturgis Brown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-47 defeat against Vermillion on the 1st. As for Mahpiya Luta, they will take on Rapid City Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rapid City Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Mahpiya Luta likes a good challenge.
