Basketball Game Preview: Mount Airy Granite Bears vs. North Stokes Vikings

Having just played yesterday, the Mount Airy Granite Bears will get right back to it and host the North Stokes Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Stokes took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount Airy, who comes in off a win.

Mount Airy is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They walked away with a 25-14 win over Alleghany on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, North Stokes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alleghany. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Trojans are ranked 416th).

Mount Airy's victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10. As for North Stokes, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Mount Airy came up short against North Stokes in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 44-37. Can Mount Airy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
