Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is IMG Academy White's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

IMG Academy White's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Inspiration Academy Red Lions with a sharp 8-2 win. This was a revenge game for the Ascenders: when they faced off against the Lions back in February, they had to take a 12-11 loss.

IMG Academy White got a great performance from Brennan Sink as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, Sink posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Payne Cearnal was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. IMG Academy White is 3-1 when Cearnal posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-12 otherwise. Owen Armstead was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

IMG Academy White has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Inspiration Academy Red, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

As of now, neither IMG Academy White nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
