Boardman picks up sixth straight win at home

Recap: Boardman Spartans vs. John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles

There's no place like home for the Boardman Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They took down John F. Kennedy Catholic 62-47 on Monday. With that win, Boardman brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boardman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mary catherine Werth, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Werth has scored all season. Sarah Bero was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite the loss, John F. Kennedy Catholic had strong showings from Didi Ryan, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists, and Ava Darney, who scored 17 points. Ryan is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Odille, who scored five points along with five rebounds.

Boardman pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for John F. Kennedy Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boardman will square off against Salem at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for John F. Kennedy Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against Southeast at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. John F. Kennedy Catholic is facing Southeast at the right time seeing as Southeast is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
