Baseball Recap: Mountain Ridge Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mountain Ridge waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Pinnacle Pioneers as they made off with an 8-2 win. The Mountain Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pioneers, too.

Mountain Ridge got a great performance from Jaggar Wethington as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Wethington has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Coby Neville was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Joe Forbes was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Mountain Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mountain Ridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pinnacle, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8-1.

Mountain Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pioneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
