Baseball Game Preview: Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks vs. Lewis-Palmer Rangers

For the second straight game, Cheyenne Mountain will face off against Lewis-Palmer. The Red-Tailed Hawks will host the Rangers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cheyenne Mountain has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cheyenne Mountain's last matchup with Lewis-Palmer could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Red-Tailed Hawks came up short against the Rangers, falling 16-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Lewis-Palmer's part, Drew Boyarko made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Boyarko has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Lendt, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Hunter Morgan was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Cheyenne Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 7-2-1. As for Lewis-Palmer, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
