Football Recap: Newton-Conover Beats Maiden for Their Sixth Straight Win

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Newton-Conover ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 19-13 victory over the Maiden Blue Devils. The win was nothing new for the Red Devils as they're now sitting on six straight.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Newton-Conover's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Talan Thavichith, Noah Hendrix, and Jerry Forney, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Maiden's side was Thavichith, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Maiden's loss came despite strong showings from Javien Seagle and Grant Lawing. Seagle picked up 120 receiving yards and two TDs, while Lawing threw for 241 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Newton-Conover's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Maiden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Newton-Conover nor Maiden have any future games scheduled.
