Softball Recap: Cypress Bay Has No Trouble Against Taravella

Cypress Bay's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Taravella Trojans with a sharp 18-4 victory. The Lightning haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Lexi Groenendijk made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Groenendijk was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, Julia Gabante was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Jordyn Munger was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

The victory got Cypress Bay back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Cypress Bay will challenge Cooper City at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Taravella, they will head out to challenge Flanagan at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
