Cochrane-Fountain City has gone a perfect 10-0 against Melrose-Mindoro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 7:15 p.m.
On Thursday, Cochrane-Fountain City didn't have quite enough to beat Pepin/Alma and fell 3-2. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 25-11 in the first set.
Cochrane-Fountain City actually scored more points across those five sets (93-90), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 11-25, 25-15, 14-25, 25-18, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Melrose-Mindoro came into Thursday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a set and slipped past Whitehall 3-2.
Melrose-Mindoro had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 14-25, 25-17, 25-13, 15-9.
Cochrane-Fountain City's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Melrose-Mindoro, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Cochrane-Fountain City came out on top in a nail-biter against Melrose-Mindoro in their previous meeting on September 6th, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
