Basketball Game Preview: Coral Park Rams vs. Reagan Bison

Coral Park and Reagan are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The Coral Park Rams just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Reagan Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Thursday, Coral Park was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Miami Beach.

Meanwhile, Reagan lost to Central on the road by a 65-47 margin back in December of 2024. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Rockets are ranked 29th).

Coral Park will need focus on slowing down Mateo Balcarcel, one of several Reagan players who made an impact when they last played. He posted seven points. What's more, Balcarcel also racked up four boards, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Ronal Hodelin was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards.

Reagan's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Coral Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
