Softball Game Preview: Destrehan Wildcats vs. Bourgeois Braves

The Destrehan Wildcats will challenge the Bourgeois Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Destrehan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Destrehan turned things around against Ascension Christian on Monday. They came out on top against Ascension Christian by a score of 10-6.

Kallie Oubre tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Burkett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Alayna Vicknair also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Bourgeois came up short against Assumption on Saturday, falling 11-3. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Bourgeois' loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Destrehan, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Destrehan beat Bourgeois 6-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Destrehan repeat their success, or does Bourgeois have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
