Baseball Recap: Corcoran Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Corcoran won the last time they faced Granite Hills and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers never let the Grizzlies get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Brennan Botill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Brayden Espinoza and Vincent Cruz did most of the damage at the plate: Espinoza went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Cruz went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Cruz has posted since back in February of 2025. Cruz Portillo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Corcoran and bumps their season record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Granite Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10-1 record this season.

Corcoran wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-3 victory against Lindsay on the 14th. As for Granite Hills, they have also already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Woodlake on the 14th.
