Basketball Recap: Roxana Comes Up Short

Roxana played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Carrollton Hawks 65-28. The Shells were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-17.

Lauren Flowers was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds for Carrollton. Flowers' evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Hayden Mcmurtrie was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Roxana has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Carrollton, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.

Roxana and Carrollton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Roxana (ranked 271st) will meet Lincolnwood (ranked 597th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Carrollton will take on Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 111 places (110 vs. 221).
