Basketball Recap: Westland Victorious

Westland won the last time they faced Worthington Kilbourne and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cougars slipped by the Wolves 49-48. Those 49 points were actually the fewest the Cougars have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Leading Westland to victory were Breaker Heller Jr. and Antwon Pollard. Heller Jr. went 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points and five boards, while Pollard shot 45% from the field en route to 16 points. The contest was Heller Jr.'s fourth in a row with at least 15 points.

Defeat or not, Worthington Kilbourne got some senior leadership from Luke Page and Brylan Brown. Page shot 83% from the field on his way to 10 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Brown went 5-for-7 en route to 11 points and four steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Page. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Rice, who posted 12 points.

Westland's record is now 9-3. As for Worthington Kilbourne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Westland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-54 win against Springfield on the 21st. As for Worthington Kilbourne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-46 victory against Dublin Scioto on the 23rd.
