Soccer Game Preview: Clarke County vs. Poquoson

The Clarke County Eagles will face off against the Poquoson Islanders at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clarke County comes in on 12 and Poquoson on five.

Clarke County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Graham a 4-0 shutout. Considering Clarke County have won 12 contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabel Aliveto and Makenna Jarvis scored all four of Clarke County's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 37 goals.

Meanwhile, Poquoson earned a 2-0 win over Glenvar on Friday. Give Poquoson's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Clarke County's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those seven matches. As for Poquoson, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

Clarke County took their win against Poquoson in their previous matchup back in June of 2023 by a conclusive 6-1 score. In that game, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 4-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
