Football Recap: Willow Springs Comes Up Short

Willow Springs had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-6 to make it four. They were dealt a 77-36 defeat at the hands of Ava. Even if Willow Springs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Ava, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Aiden Lane was his usual excellent self, rushing for 230 yards and four TDs on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 47 yards and one touchdown. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Willow Springs and Ava are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bears are taking a road trip to challenge Springfield Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ava, they will head out to square off against Fair Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
