Baseball Recap: East Duplin Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for East Duplin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Kinston Vikings on Tuesday. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Gavin Holmes was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Colton Holmes was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jack Tuck also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

East Duplin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kinston only posted an OBP of .125.

The victory got East Duplin back to even at 3-3. As for Kinston, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Duplin beat Kinston by a score of 11-1 later that day.
